Aquatics Classes at JCC Stamford

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 12/23/2017
The JCC’s pool is getting a face lift! Renovations will begin on August 21, 2017 and will include a new pool deck and observation deck floor. Work should be completed by October 1. During renovation classes will be held at a location in Stamford to be announced in August. Thank you for your patience and support as we improve our JCC!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Swim Assessment for New Swimmers
For all children enrolling in a swim program for the first time, we strongly encourage you to bring your child for a free assessment. Our instructors will be able to advise you on the best class for your child based on his or her age and ability. Contact Aquatics Coordinator, Andres Baez at 203.487.0990 or abaez@stamfordjcc.org.

Swim Refund Policy
Due to high demand and limited spots for swim lessons, the JCC refund policy will be strictly enforced. Refunds, credits or make-up classes for unscheduled absences cannot be accommodated. For absences due to serious illness/injury (doctor’s note required) or absences known at least one week in advance, we will make every effort to schedule make-up classes. Placement in make-up classes is based on the schedule of comparable classes and their availability.

Swim Cap Policy

Everyone entering the pool must wear a swim cap. This rule applies to males & females of all ages who have hair, no matter how long.

Swim School at The J!
Grades K – 5
Where young children get a head start at swimming, gain confidence in the water and begin working on basic swimming skills, while interacting with an instructor and other children in a fun and safe environment.
Through our comprehensive curriculum children will learn skills, build knowledge, gain confidence and feel safe in and around water. Using a step-by-step approach to learning, students will build proficiency as they successfully progress through levels that teach the four essential strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Most importantly, the new curriculum is built in such a way that children will be excited to advance through each level. Every swimmer will receive a book in which he or she will be able to see the specific skills needed to progress to the next level. Swimmers also will be awarded a new color of swim cap as they progress through each level. Each semester ends with a free swim competition. See class listings following all class descriptions.

Level 1 – Angelfish (Exploration)
Red Swim Cap
