We will mount a full production of a musical, starting with the initial audition and followed by a multi-week rehearsal process, culminating in a performance where family and friends can enjoy your hard work from the audience. No previous experience required!
ABOUT THE SHOWS
Session #1 (Grades 5-10) "13": Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!
Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?
Composed of a precocious cast, no character in 13 is older than the show's title, making it wonderful for theatre companies that feature young artists. The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life here are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.
Session #1 (Grades 1-5) "The Lion King Jr": The African Savannah comes to life with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
DATES/TIMES: Each session will meet Monday-Friday 9:30am-3pm. Drop off begins at 9am. All children need to be picked up by 3:30pm. Session #1 will start June 25th and performances will take place July 13th at 7:30pm and 14th at 6pm for "13" and July 14th at 3pm for "The Lion King Jr." All rehearsals and performances will be at the University of Bridgeport (244 University, John J. Cox Student Center).
