FEBRUARY
Dashing Through the Snow
Tuesday, February 21st 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
The winter landscape provides us with a glimpse into the lives of winter animals by forcing them to leave traces of their movement behind. Children will learn the tracks of local animals and go outside to find out where those animals have been dashing. What can we tell about these animals by looking closely at their tracks?
Forestry 101
Wednesday, February 22nd 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Get your hands dirty and find facts like a pro! Children will act like real scientists using their senses, beakers, magnifying glasses, balances, and other tools to reveal the inner workings of our local forest's ecology. From height to width and weight, discover the power of experiment and find out how data explains our world.
Snow People
Thursday, February 23rd 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
People have lived in the extreme cold for thousands of years. Children will venture out into the snow to learn how to stay warm in the cold. From igloos to snow caves, we will explore how to make a shelter out of the snow.
The Power of Ice
Friday, February 24th 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Ice has tremendous power to change and preserve the surface of the Earth. We will learn about potholes, glaciers, and ice cores as children investigate the properties of water when it freezes and how it impacts the living and non-living things around us.
