Discovery Museum and Planetarium

Discovery Museum has interactive exhibits, planetarium shows, Science on a Sphere, and so much more! Discover an “Energy Network” with catapults, solar power, and simple machines. Test physic concepts using pulley chairs, levers, and giant magnets. Create a light spectrum masterpiece on Everbright, a massive Lite Brite-style station, or challenge yourself in the “DARE to Discover” gallery. Fly a mission to the Moon in Discovery Museum’s Challenger Center, a simulated space mission experience which can be scheduled for groups or parties. Have a memorable birthday, with super fun science themes like Starforce Explorers and Peculiar Potions. Book an overnight at the Museum for your Scout or school group! Discovery offers amazing class field trip options, with over 80 different learning labs, live science demonstrations, and planetarium shows. You can also book Travelling Science that comes to your school or library! The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, throughout the school year for regular admission. Pre-booked school groups can schedule a visit on Mondays.

Bring a lunch! Discovery Museum has a large food court with windows overlooking the Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum ropes course behind our building. Our food court hasvending machines offering snacks and beverages, but no other food concessions are available on site. We encourage guests to bring your own lunch to enjoy during your visit.

Getting Here

Located in a scenic section of the North End of Bridgeport, Discovery Museum is nestled in Veterans Memorial Park just off the Merritt Parkway.  Our location at 4450 Park Avenue is minutes from the main entrance to Sacred Heart University, and across the street from the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.

We also share our campus with the Discovery Interdistrict Magnet School, and the Adventure Park at Discovery.


Creative parties for toddlers to teens showcase hands-on, awesome science adventures for the most memorable birthday ever! While schools are closed during the COVID-19 crisis, our team is hard at work creating educational STEAM content and activities to help bring the excitement of Discovery to your home. Our new digital content will include “Stuck at Home Science” activities and videos, “Digital Discovery” lessons, and planetarium show webcasts. You can subscribe to the following resources to receive out latest digital content as soon as it is available.

Stay home, stay safe! The Discovery Museum encourages everyone to wash their hands, use social distancing, and follow guidelines about how to use proper safety equipment if you need to go out. Learn how to make your own mask with these instructions from the CDC!
