Family Fun on Morris Cove Day at PMH

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 08/24/2019
After successfully reviving Morris Cove Day in 2018, organizers along New Haven’s coast have expanded the family-friendly event for 2019. The free event will include a pie-baking contest, kids’ activities and host of vendors and food trucks. The event begins with a flag-raising ceremony and free tours of PMH, which was burnt down by the British in 1779.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Vendors at Morris Cove Day will have a variety of offeringsfrom locally grown produce to vegan soaps to crafts—and food trucks including 3 Chicks Grille, Maamoun’s Falafel Cart, and PopCentric Gourmet Ice Pops.

Kids’ activities will include a magician show, face painting, hula-hoop lessons, crafts, and the perennially popular colonial games provided by New Haven Museum staff members.

The Morris Cove Day Pie-Baking Contest will return this year also. The 2018 competition was a hit, and a nail biter to the end, with pineapple cherry and blueberry crunch pies as finalists! The 2019 prize package includes bragging rights, the admiration of all in attendance, an award ribbon, and a gift certificate to The New Haven Museum.  Details and entry form here: https://morriscoveday.wordpress.com/enter-pie-bake-off/

On view at PMH is “Domestic Buildup, an exhibit by Bridgeport artist and quilt maker Richard Killeaney. Comprised of a series of found-paper design collages, the exhibit examines the history of PMH, domesticity, the value of fabric, and accumulation.

Morris Cove Day is sponsored by St. Bernadette School.

The Museum thanks UI/Lighting Up the Arts; The Howard Gilman Foundation; East Shore Management Team; Knights of Columbus, Rodrigo Council #44; the DeCola Family and other Morris Cove neighbors for supporting the Pardee-Morris House 2019 summer season.
