METERS FOR A CURE ERG CHALLENGE

Swim Across America Fairfield County and Greenwich Crew are teaming up for a charity rowing event Meters for a Cure ERG Challenge on September 16, 2018, with proceeds funding Swim Across America Fairfield County and it’s beneficiary the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), the nation’s only foundation dedicated exclusively to funding cancer gene therapy research.

Swim Across America, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation recognized by the IRS with federal tax-exempt status as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Tax ID #22-3248256)

TIMELINE: The schedule is subject to change.

  • 7:30am: Registration/Check In/Coffee
  • 8:00am: Welcome/Why I Row
  • 8:15am: MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOLERS ROW
  • 9:15am: ADULT/MASTERS/CORPORATE ROW
  • 10:15am: Awards Ceremony

ROW OPTIONS: We are offering 4 back to back sessions of 45 minutes each. Team members row relay style sharing an erg machine and will compete to see who can accumulate the most meters in 45 minutes. There will be four waves of competitors (two adult divisions and two junior divisions). All participants will need to register and are asked to raise $100 for the cause.

HOW TO JOIN: Click the register button in the middle of this page and get your own fundraising link to send out to your friends and family. Rowing relays will be made up of teams of 4. All registrants should register as a part of a team.

TEAM CAPTAINS: To register your team, click the register button, then select 'Start a Team'. You will be asked to name your team and select a team fundraising goal. Once registered, be sure to share the team name with your teammates so that they can join your team.

TEAM MEMBERS: To join a team, click the register button, then select 'Join a Team'. Use the search field to find your team and select the 'join' button to register as a member of that team. You can also register for your team but first visiting the team fundraising page, then selecting the 'Join Team' button.

Middle School and High School participants who don't already have a group of 4 to row with should register as a member of either the Greenwich Water Club High School or Greenwich Water Club Middle School Rowing Teams. Groups of 4 will then be assigned before the event by coaches/captains.

All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waivers found here and bring to the event check-in. If you are under 18, please bring the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

FUNDRAISING: We encourage rowers to each raise at least $100. Many will raise more but if everyone raises $100, our event could raise thousands to support mission of SAA and Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy.
