41st ANNUAL FAMILY NATURE DAY - White Memorial Conservation Center

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 09/23/2023
The purpose of Nature Day is to provide an environment for the community to enjoy and interact with nature and to gain knowledge about the flora and fauna that exist in their backyards. The day is powered by the Conservation Center’s Education and Activities Committee, the most devoted group of volunteers to be found anywhere on Earth! This 41st edition promises to be the biggest and best Nature Day ever, laden with guided nature walks, live animal presentations, and music. Many local organizations are represented: Flanders Nature Center, The Little Free Library at Stonehill, The Institute for American Indian Studies, Audubon Sharon, Connecticut Woodcarvers Association, The Litchfield Hills Audubon Society, Beekeeper Dexter Kinsella, The Bantam Lake Protective Association, Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy, Litchfield Hills Amateur Astronomy Club, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo just to name a handful.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Amidst all that cerebral stuff are horse and wagon rides, an online silent auction, wonderful nature crafts for the kiddies, a pie sale that practically sells out as soon as the gates open, and delicious food from tacos to burgers, to maple popcorn, and more. The
Annual Ray and Jean Packard Turtle Race along with local 4-H groups
showcasing goats and guinea pigs, are fan favorites! Artists sell handcrafted works almost exclusively made in Connecticut. Our popular raffle features a trip for two to Iceland, ensuring that all 1200 tickets will be sold. (usually in advance!)
Admission of $6.00 with children ages twelve and under and Center members free means that our event is very accessible to lower income families and individuals. Our lovely Nature Museum is open all day as part of the festivities.
