*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 06/25/2020
The Stage West summer programs welcome younger students into a warm, professional environment to spark creativity, build confidence, practice co-operation and develop curiosity. Through the craft of theatre, we also deepen self-esteem, creative problem solving and communication skills. Come play with us in one of Ft. Worth’s most beloved and respected professional theatres.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Due to the many factors regarding health, safety, re-openings and social distancing, Stage West Theatre has decided to transfer all of our June Classes to online formats.

Classes will be held on Zoom. Students must have access to a computer or a cell phone with a camera.

Class #1 | ONLINE | Ages 8-13 | June 9–12

BEHIND THE CURTAIN: THEATRE DESIGN CLASS

Costume Design (9:00am – 10:15am)

Designers make the characters and atmosphere of a play come to life! Using well known fairy tales, we will create costumes for three different characters that capture the world of the play and the uniqueness of each character. Designs will be made into a portfolio to share with family and friends.

Set Design (12:00 – 1:15pm)

Whether for the backyard or Broadway, every play needs a proper set! Students will create an interior location of the same fairy tale story used in the costume design segment. They will learn the basics of set design by creating a design rendering, ground plans and models of their set designs.

Flower Avila and Allen Dean will guide the students on a journey of design discovery.

Materials needed: Paper, crayons or markers, a cardboard box, scissors and glue.

4 days. Each design segment is a little over an hour and can be taken separately or combined.
One session: $45, plus $5.95 registration fee.
Both sessions: $80 plus $5.95 registration fee.
