Trees in the Rigging at the CT River Museum

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 11/27/2022
The holiday season kicks off in Essex with the annual TREES IN THE RIGGING Community Carol Sing and Parade. The Connecticut River Museum, the Essex Board of Trade, and the Essex Historical Society join together to present this annual event that includes a traditional, lantern-lit carol stroll down Main Street where spectators are invited to bring their own lanterns or flashlights. The stroll steps off at 4:30 pm from the Essex Town Hall on West Avenue and ends at the Connecticut River Museum for a community Riverside celebration. Santa and his elves will make an appearance on the lawn of the Museum.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately.

Make a “Boat Float” for Trees in the Rigging Parade!

The parade at Essex’s annual “Trees in the Rigging” welcomes back “Boat Floats.” In addition to the Sailing Masters Fife & Drum Corps, vintage autos and festive carolers, RETURNING to this year’s land parade will be “Boat Floats” or small watercraft on trailers that are decorated for the holidays and can be towed down Essex’s streets. Members of the public are invited to decorate their own boat to be pulled or walked down the parade route. We appreciate small-scale efforts – so folksy, homemade and low-budget (or no-budget) – will suit the spirit of the parade perfectly. Rowboats, kayaks and canoes will all work, too! Please contact Essex Historical Society to register your Boat Float and receive important driving and parking info: 860-767-0681 or mjosefiak@essexhistory.org

The Connecticut River Museum will be open this evening for all to attend the 29th Annual  Holiday Train Show. We offer FREE admission during the Trees in the Rigging celebration.

Our Museum Shop is open for Museum Shop Sunday. Members always receive 10% off in our shop!
