Winter Sowing Workshop at Lachat Town Farm

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/31/2026
The weather might be getting colder outside, but gardening season is just around the corner, and *now* is the best time to start your native seedlings! In this hands-on workshop, Lachat will be teaming up with the Weston Pollinator Pathway and Advanced Master Gardener and Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist Alice Ely to teach participants how to make your own “mini-greenhouse” in a bottle to start seedlings of native plants that will attract pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to your yard. Participants of all ages are welcome, but we ask that all children are accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Thank you!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Participants are asked to bring clear 1-liter or 2-liter soda bottles or translucent half gallon milk bottles. We’ll be sharing some special native seeds sourced right here in our ecoregion, along with potting soil.

We are grateful to the Pollinator Pathway and Alice Ely for providing this workshop at no charge to the community. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required, so please be sure to reserve your spot early and let us know if your plans change.
