At dusk, bats leave the warm spaces under city roofs to feed on flying insects. Join Bradley Klein, Danielle Gustafson, and other members of the New York City Bat Group for a walk through Central Park. Aided by detectors that amplify the animals' animals’ otherwise inaudible high-frequency chirps, bat-watchers monitor and catalogue the species that call the city home.

From 6:30pm – 8:00pm on the grounds of Mill Hill Historic Park, The Spirit of Black Rock Fife and Drum Corp will regale everyone with early American and Patriotic songs! Learn how these songs shaped the development of American music and how they were used during the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War.
This joint camp with Mystic Seaport will have campers starting their day at the Aquarium with hands-on programming to learn about the conservation of Mystic River and Long Island Sound. Then, in the afternoon, campers will travel to the Seaport to learn how to sail on the Mystic River. This camp will provide your child the unique opportunity to see the Mystic River from above and below. Extended day is not offered for this camp.
New for 2019! Send your camper on a 3-day adventure at Mystic Aquarium right before the July 4 holiday. Campers will go behind the scenes of the Aquarium’s exhibits, meet unique animals, learn from animal care staff and work on a themed craft to take home at the end of this session.
Eco Explorers camp is a full-day, weeklong camp exploring habitats including terrestrial areas, estuaries, marshes, fresh water and more. Eco Explorers will participate in engaging hands-on activities, games, crafts and behind the scenes visits and go on two field trips; Save The Bay boat trip and Bluff Point State Park. Our exploration-minded staff will utilize our exhibits and meetings with our animal care staff to guide your explorer on an ecological experience.
Counting down the last week before Summer officially arrives, we’ll relive the cool stuff of winter. We’ll have a 300- pound block of ice on hand to watch it melt into summer while you make your own sno-cones and frozen hot chocolate. You can also do a little Ice Skating (on a slippery socks rink) and of course, Santa is coming –this time of year he’s so chill! And hang on to your earmuffs – Elsa and Anna from FROZEN are coming to sing and staying for photo ops! That’s so cool!

Let our energetic staff take your camper on an adventure through the amazing marine world as they learn about the animals and habitats at the aquarium! Campers will be engaged and educated as they visit behind the scenes areas of the Aquarium’s exhibits, meet unique animals and learn from animal care staff. Additional camp activities include a field trip to the Children’s Museum in West Hartford and Bluff Point State Park to learn about the wonderful world of animal antics.
Bring your children out to learn at the #1 Golf Training Facility in Connecticut. Our Junior Golf Camp is a weekly program for ages 7-17 that provides a fun environment for your junior golfers to learn and develop their golf and athletic abilities. Campers will be brought onto the golf course Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to play while being escorted by camp counselors.
On Saturday, June 22, at 10:15, author Jill Mangel Weisfeld will visit the bookstore to read and sign her charming children's book Riley the Retriever Wants a New Job. (Riley himself will be joining her.)
Jill Mangel Weisfeld is an award-winning children's book author and founder of Peek-a-Bear Press. Jill is currently the Art Director of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and has done freelance graphic design for various non-profit organizations. She is formerly Senior Art Director at Bride’s Magazine and Art Director for Macy’s Advertising in New York.
Riley is a certified therapy dog, trained by the Good Dog Foundation, who regularly visits schools, libraries,and elder-care facilities, making people happy.
To celebrate the arrival of a new pair of Black-handed Spider monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi geoffroyi), the Zoo is sponsoring a Golden Ticket “Bananza” of prizes, with participating public libraries in a number of towns throughout the area.
Five hundred Golden Ticket Bananas will be hidden in books, with prizes for one free child’s birthday party, multiple yearly family memberships, free passes for families and individuals, free monkey plush toys, discounts at the Zoo gift shop, soft serve ice cream cones and carousel rides. There is one Grand Prize of a Behind the Scenes Tour at the Zoo.
