This art class for young children will cover the basics of art and introduce them to different art mediums such as clay, stamps, paint and fabric, and help them develop their creativity and imagination. They will learn about the many elements of art such as line, shape, color, value and texture. Art classes can help students gain confidence, express themselves and learn that its OK to make mistakes! Please dress for mess!

Students will design their own characters and learn to use them in a one-panel cartoon and three-panel comic strip. They will study facial expressions and body language as it relates to cartooning. Instruction in creating mood and suspense using color theory, composition and perspective will be put into practice to explore cartooning in comic books and graphic novels for children. Storyboards and caricature will also be included.

In this course, the budding artist will learn the basic techniques of all forms of art, through a wide variety of materials such as watercolor, pastels and ink. Students will explore ideas related to nature, family, sports, animals and more. This class will emphasize the importance of expressing each child’s unique creativity through art, and allow students to use their imagination in new and exciting ways. Please dress for mess!

In this workshop, kids will create their own Winter Snowman Luminaries! We will craft mason jars with fake snow, snowman faces and ear warmers. When complete, we’ll drop a battery tea-light inside and watch them glow! Students get to be creative, use various materials, and enjoy the magical glow of the finished product. The process develops fine motor skills through decorating, and the result is a festive and glowing craft that can be displayed, gifted, or used as a night light!
