Fairfield County Editor Job Description | Kids Out and About Fairfield County, CT

Fairfield County Editor Job Description

KidsOutandAbout.com is a fast-growing leader in online family media. We are the go-to source for parents in 15 nationwide regions who want to find out about all the great things going on for kids and families in their local communities. We currently have a position open for an editor in Fairfield County, CT.

This position is part-time, about 10-15 hours per week. Local editors are the local “face” of KidsOutAndAbout for their area, and therefore must be located physically within the region. They work with the managing editor and editor-in-chief to keep their regional site up-to-date and robust. They write weekly editor’s notes, staff booths at local festivals, enter local events to the calendar, write reviews of local attractions, and, in general, nurture the organizations that post to our calendars. He/she also works closely with the sales team to feed the local sales rep leads for organizations that might want extra, paid visibility in addition to their free listing and postings.

Editors are paid a monthly stipend plus receive a percentage of local sales. This position is ideal for a stay-at-home Fairfield County mom or dad who loves to write, who loves to bring his/her kids out and about, who is already connected with those in her local community, and who knows we all have to do data entry sometimes. Our editor should be very web-savvy and unafraid of learning new online computer software programs. He or she should also be excited to take their kids “out and about” in Fairfield County as much as possible (you’ll get free tickets to all kinds of places), and then write about it.
