New England Ballet Company presents its annual family holiday classic, Nutcracker, under the newly appointed artistic direction of Victor Trevino on Saturday, December 20 at 2pm and 8 pm, with a Champagne Reception at 7:00 and on Sunday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Clara's dream is brought to life in a large cast production with exquisite costumes and dazzling choreography. Young children from local dancing schools dance along with company dancers and guest artists and add to the charm of the production. The moment the lights dim, the audience is transported to a magical place filled with adorable children, marching toy soldiers, a villainous Rat King and mischievous mice.
Enter the Land of the Sweets through a dreamy on-stage snowstorm led by the glamorous Snow Queen, with little angels to light the way. The Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier dance for Clara and the Nutcracker Prince and welcome them into a fantasy world of waltzing flowers, dancing princesses from around the world, and Mother Ginger and her precocious children. A wonderful ballet for the entire family, Nutcracker is the perfect way to introduce children to the power and beauty of classical dance.
