Farm Camp at Unquowa: Grades 1-6

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/15/2016
In addition to the art, cooking and environmental science classes taught right here on our campus, campers will begin three mornings a week at Sport Hill Farm.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

While planting, irrigating, and harvesting both produce and eggs, campers will learn the importance of organic farming for the planet and the health benefits to themselves.

Afternoons are comprised of an art class, with a focus on art in nature, a science class centered round the theme of sustainability and the environment, and a cooking class conducted by our school’s chef and using foods picked at Sport Hill Farm. Classes are all taught by experts in their field.

One day a week the campers will go on an all-day field experience. Each week of the program is scheduled for a different location. From a trip to learn about the history of farming, visiting a bee keeper or even learning about how food is harvested from Long Island Sound, campers are given an opportunity to further learn about the food web and what their impact is on the world.
