Our annual ArborEarth Festival event is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th. A fantastic family event with lots of fun activities for all ages! This year it will be more interactive than ever before!

Held this year one week before Columbus Day weekend, the show will feature fine contemporary art including oils, acrylics, prints and drawings, mixed media, sculpture and photography are all available for purchase. Also included are family art activities, a children's drawing contest and delicious food. We are looking forward to welcoming you at the 38th Annual Outdoor Arts Festival!

Join us for a Birding Walk led by Dr. Benjamin Oko, longtime Ridgefield resident, RACE member, birding expert, and recent recipient of TownVibe’s Green Award. After a short introduction on birding, Dr. Oko will lead a 90-minute walk, teaching participants how to spot and identify the ducks, egrets, songbirds, and other “Cheepers” residing at the Nature Center. This event is FREE but registration REQUIRED. *From 10-11 am participants are invited to enjoy coffee and hot chocolate in the pavilion courtesy of event partner Thrown Stone Theatre Company.* ​Presented in collaboration with Thrown Stone Theatre Company, TownVibe, and the Ridgefield Library in honor of Earth Day. Thrown Stone is presenting a series of community events around the theme, Close To Home, building toward their third season, which features the Connecticut Premiere of Cry it Out by Molly Smith Metzler and the East Coast Premiere of Birds of North America by Anna Moench.

The Zoo is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.! Come celebrate with the children.   

Chris is famous for getting everyone involved through singing and dancing—even bringing kids up on stage with him! Rowlands brings animals to life through kid-friendly songs, dance, puppets, and colorful props. Children are invited to wear fun hats and sing along on stage as he shares his self-penned songs about animals and their environment. Free with paid admission to the Zoo. Shown at 11 am, 1 and 3 pm. daily. Each performance is 30-35 minutes long. Sponsored by the CT Farm Bureau.

Meet our Heritage Breed Jacob sheep before they get their spring shearing and discover the process of wool from sheep to sweater. Wash, dry, card and spin your own wool to create a piece of yarn for a beaded bracelet. Create a set of wool dryer balls from our sheep’s wool to take home too.

The Zoo thanks all firefighters for their exceptional courage and commitment. We’re offering free admission to all firefighters today, as well as police officers and emergency personnel. Show your badge or ID card at the ticket window.  

This monthly 45-minute program for children ages 22 months to four years, who are accompanied by an adult, may include stories, games, activities, crafts, and live animals.
