Stamford Museum & Nature Center
The SM&NC is a place for families.
Come discover, learn, and enjoy.
Fun and adventure await you every season at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Bring friends and enjoy a picnic on the Meadow, a program at the Farmhouse, or simply explore our magnificent 118-acre site. With over 80 acres of hardwood forest, miles of hiking trails and peaceful walking paths, we are the model nature-based organization for getting families outdoors year-round.
We revel in social engagement, welcoming adults and kids for programs like Drive-in Movies, Farm-to-Table Suppers, Cooking Classes, Farm & Artisan Markets, Clam Bakes and Festivals. Heckscher Farm is a working farm and home to a variety of animals including heritage breeds and exotics. We make our very own line of Maple Syrup right here in our Sugar House + Cidery.
We host or curate six major fine art exhibitions in our galleries annually, and have grown a diverse Permanent Collection of more than 20,000 cultural objects, artifacts, and works of art since 1936.
The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is an excellent educational resource for schools and groups. Our four pillars — nature, agriculture, astronomy and art — allow for an extensive variety of educational options. Our diverse site creates an unparalleled experience for your field trip. Our programs are hands-on, interactive, relevant and fun! All programs are correlated to State of Connecticut Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards, and curricula can be adapted to fit specific needs.
