What our organization offers:
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
The Frederick Gunn School is a coeducational, independent, college preparatory school serving 310 boarding and day students from Connecticut and 23 other states, and 20 countries. The 220-acre campus borders the village green of Washington, Connecticut, in the Litchfield Hills. The school was founded in 1850 by Frederick Gunn, an educator and prominent abolitionist who is also recognized by the American Camping Association as the originator of leisure camping in the United States.

Gunnery students are individuals with their own distinct takes on life and their own unique goals. This is a place where you can be yourself. Your teachers and fellow students will applaud your accomplishments and help you discover your talents and passions. The Gunnery is more than being uniquely you, though. Connections between people form the heart of all we do - whether it's engaging in a discussion of European history or reviewing a game plan in soccer or gathering to make brownies together in the dorm.

We take learning seriously and support your exploration of many paths. It takes a community of individuals dedicated to becoming their best selves to chart the way. We think you'll find that community at The Gunnery.

Rigorous curriculum (119 courses, 32 honors and APs) in English, History, Science, Mathematics, World Languages, Performing and Visual Arts, Robotics and Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Center for Citizenship & Just Democracy, Outdoor Program.
