Session D - Two Week Overnight Camp

Camp Hazen YMCA’s traditional sessions offer a full overnight camp experience where campers build friendships, confidence, and independence. Campers live in small cabin groups and choose activities across Creative Arts, Outdoor Pursuits, Land Sports, and Water Sports, while also participating in team-building with their cabin group on the high ropes course and zipline. Days are filled with swimming, games, campfires, and the kind of memories that stay with campers long after summer ends.

Camp Hazen YMCA’s traditional two-week sessions offer campers a full and immersive overnight camp experience built around friendship, adventure, and personal growth. These sessions give campers enough time to truly settle into camp life, build strong relationships with their cabin group, and develop confidence while trying new activities in a supportive community.

Campers live in small cabin groups led by caring, well-trained counselors who help guide them through each day. Over the course of two weeks, campers become part of the rhythm of camp—morning flag, activity periods, meals together in the dining hall, afternoon swims, evening programs, and camp traditions that bring the whole community together. The longer session allows campers to feel comfortable, take on new challenges, and build meaningful friendships with the people around them.

A hallmark of Camp Hazen’s two-week program is the opportunity for campers to choose and focus on specific activities. Campers sign up for skill classes in four program areas: Creative Arts, Outdoor Pursuits, Land Sports, and Water Sports. Creative Arts includes activities such as candle making, basketmaking, wood burning, guitar, drama, and radio. Outdoor Pursuits focuses on adventure and nature skills like outdoor cooking and outdoor survival. Land Sports includes activities such as archery and field sports, while Water Sports features options like sailing, windsurfing, swimming, and time on our water trampoline.

In addition to these activity areas, campers participate in a fifth program area with their cabin group focused on teamwork and challenge. These sessions include group initiatives, team building, and experiences on Camp Hazen’s high ropes course and zipline, helping campers develop trust, confidence, and leadership skills.

Throughout the two-week session, campers also take part in campfires, evening games, special events, and long-standing Camp Hazen traditions that create a strong sense of belonging. By the end of the session, campers often feel a deep connection to camp, their cabin group, and the wider camp community.

As part of the YMCA, Camp Hazen is committed to making camp accessible and welcoming to families from a wide range of backgrounds. We offer tiered pricing and financial assistance to help ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the friendships, adventure, and personal growth that come from time at camp. For many campers, the traditional two-week session becomes the highlight of their summer and the start of a lifelong connection to Camp Hazen YMCA.
