Summer Camp 2023 - Two Coyotes Wilderness School

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/18/2023
What Makes a Summer Camp Extraordinary? Two Coyotes Wilderness School offers 8 weeklong day camp sessions at our Newtown & Granby locations. While some of our camps feature more specialized themes and others are more general, each session is led by skilled nature mentors who introduce earth living skills by tailoring each camp day to match the natural curiosity of their campers. Campers may learn anything from how to craft handmade tools and art projects from natural materials, track animals, identify bird language, make friction fires, build forts and shelters, and forage for safe wild edibles. Along the way, all campers learn nature-inspired games, songs, and have free time to explore streams, mountainsides, and other unexpected nature mysteries.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Above all, our nature summer camps get kids outside and having fun! Our mentors use the natural world to teach campers valuable life skills. We believe that nature is the perfect place for children to learn about their personal gifts and how to overcome life’s challenges. Our small group size and exceptional adult mentors ensure a high-quality experience filled with memories and new friendships. Read parent & camper testimonials here.

A Typical Day at Camp

Camp starts with a morning game and gratitude circle. Mornings are spent focusing on wilderness projects and learning skills such as building a debris shelter, making pottery, or learning how to sneak invisibly through the forest. After lunch, our afternoons are filled with storytelling, playing in the river, and games that apply the skills we learned in the morning. We close each day with a sharing circle and group song.

Camps for Teens!

In the summer, we have many ways for teens to be together and the forest is the perfect place to connect with nature, yourself, and community. Our 2-week MIT program (Mentor-in-Training) is designed for those on a leadership path. Our MITs are teens 14+ with a desire to dig into how to use their previous wilderness skill experience to mentor youth through nature connection. Contact us for more info on this specialized program for teens with previous wilderness experience. We also offer Advanced SurvivalScout Tracker and Wildwood Rangers camps for ages 12-15. Advanced Survival & Scout Tracker camps include an overnight on Thursday evening.
