Winter Bird Walks

While many are dormant in winter, there are still plenty of bird species to see out and about during the colder months, including some of our most charismatic species. We’ll bundle up and search for these hardy birds at some of the best birding spots in southern Connecticut.

Saturday, December 16, 9-11 a.m. at Barn Island WMA, Stonington – Register Here
Saturday, January 13, 9-11 a.m. at Rocky Neck Park, East Lyme – Register Here
Saturday, January 27, 9-11 a.m. at Haley Farm State Park, Groton – Register Here
– Barn Island walk will be approximately 1.5-2 mile out and back on level dirt terrain. Exposure to wind, cold, and sun possible, depending on weather. No restrooms.
– Rocky Neck walk will be approximately 1-1.5 mile loop on level grassy, sandy, and dirt terrain. Exposure to wind, cold, and sun possible, depending on weather. Porta potties near parking area.
– Haley Farm State Park be an approximately 1 mile loop one level, dirt terrain. Porta potties near parking area.
