In this live online course, we improve our print and cursive handwriting through reading and writing about people and events from American history as well as drawing them. Why drawing? Drawing develops some of the same muscle groups used for handwriting. It's also lots of fun! Recommended for ages 11-18. An ADULT SECTION is also available (meeting time is different. It will start at 9:30 AM PST and end at 10:30 AM PST).

Mystic Seaport Museum offers a number of summer camps and programs that provide a unique learning adventure! Our Summer Day Camp offers campers ages 4 to 16 a kid’s-eye view of maritime history as they explore the Museum. Community Sailing day camps provide an opportunity for kids ages 6 to 15 to build and refine their sailing skills with our sailing instructors on the Mystic River. Our residential, Joseph Conrad Overnight Camp invites campers ages 8 to 15 to spend a week with us, learning to sail by day, participating in fun maritime themed activities in the evenings, and sleeping aboard a historic ship by night. The purpose of this live ONLINE course is to spark pre-teen/early teenage students' interest in reading classic books and to teach them to engage in Socratic discussion about themes, characters, plot, etc. We will also focus on history related to the stories. Our summer 2025 readings are selections from Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey. The cost is $150 for 22.5 hours of instruction June 16-Aug. 13, 2025.

Kids ages 6 to 15 can do a fun, hands-on deep dive into the world of sharks, seals and other marine animals during the 2025 Summer Camp programs of The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. Older kids will learn how technology and engineering can solve complex environmental problems like water pollution, marine debris, and storm resiliency. Falling Creek’s 2-Week session is a well-rounded camp experience for boys new to camp in 1st-5th grades. The activity schedule is similar to June and Main Camp, with six daily activity periods, but with fewer out-of-camp trips.
Boys enjoy a wide variety of activities, and generally use 2-Week as the foundation for a longer session in the future.
